Posted January 17th, 2013 09:08 AM IPClearly Pro Wrestling is ultra-subjective. What might peek my interest won't necessarily inspire DKM or Polejump or Text, etc.
But who is the one FREE AGENT (no ROH, no TNA, no WWE, no NJPW/AJPW/NOAH) wrestler who is out there that would peek your interest. Someone who you think can help the NWA take the next level. Someone who you would pay your money to see wrestle via; a live event, a dvd, or iPPV.
Don't just post a name... I'll delete those posts. I want the name, a picture, and your reason why he would be good. No wrong answers... but I only want complete answers.
my choice would be drake younger. he primarily wrestles for caw, but over the last year he's started working for pwg and dgusa. he's a solid wrestler with good mic skills. i believe he could fit the nwa mold since he's able to wrestle different styles. it's true, i am better than you

Posted January 17th, 2013 02:20 PM IPI'm not 100% sure since I don't know who all is or isn't under contract.
He's already the King of the Indies, literally. He is the current Crossfire champion. Former Traditional Championship Wrestling Heavyweight champion. TCW is arguably the hottest indy and Crossfire always draw close to a thousand per show. Both promotions trust this man to lead the way. He also wrestle in NWA-SAW. Everywhere he goes he become an instant main eventer and champion. The guy has a great gimmick(and Lawler approves of him btw),charisma,a great talker, heat magnet, and can flat out wrestle but he does not goes over the top like Davey Richards or all these other work rate guys. King has shown he can work tv style matches in TCW and SAW and work longer matches. That is a very important trait.
Raven, Obviously I could of picked someone unrealistic like Batista or Goldberg but sticking with realism Raven is probably the hottest Free Agent that the NWA could get right now.
Reasons:
1. He could probably still go in the ring. He gets lazy on the indies because of lack of motivation but if you gave him the NWA World Heavyweight Title and said to him "You're our guy" I'm sure he'd work harder
2. Incredible on the microphone. Some rate him top 10 ever. He's definitely a guy that could cut a promo on an NWA TV Show and talk people into the seats. Also has a knack for making feuds mean something even if the guy is incredibly untalented
3. Has a cult following which follows him from date to date and even sends him gifts. The Raven Effect message board has more regular users than a lot of what the NWA Shows draw.
4. He'd come relatively cheap for such a big name and would probably make promoters money on top of their cards
I will going for Shelton Benjamin. I don't know if he is under a regular contract in NJPW but I would pick him as the savior of the NWA. Hell I even heard Tharpe talked about this.
1- Great Worker, Athlete and would make history as the second african american athlete to hold the NWA World Title.
2-I know he cares about the athletes I am not sure about the politics
3- I always said that he is the black version of a youthful Sting, but at a collegiate and professional level.
4- It is his time to shine now. A former U.S. and IC Champion and also a former WWC Universal Champion.
5- Him in a program with Pearce, Wayne would be great. Also a title reign as North American and National Champion would not hurt.
6- Definately has The exposure and definately what the NWA needs

Ugly belt but he could be someone the NWA needs?
That belt was based off the old Mid - South North American title belt, Rico Mann design it and Dave Millican made it Well gentleman you remember one thing, Ric Flair is forever and so is the NWA - ' The Nature Boy ' Ric Flair

Posted January 18th, 2013 04:11 AM IPNWA could use all three guys listed at the same time if they wanted too. Babyface Raven Vs Heel "King" Shane Williams would be something that'd catch my interest.

Posted January 18th, 2013 07:07 AM IPShelton Benjamin may also be under contract to ROH.NWA Online FanZine
Is the NWA on TV? 2-3 promotions are, if that and it's local
Is the NWA on Pay Per View? No
Would the NWA members book a guy like Rhino so much that he'd conflict dates with ROH? No.
Rhino would be a fine choice and the ROH contract would literally only stop him from working the ones with TV.
Speaking of ROH guys, Corino would also be a fine choice.

Posted January 18th, 2013 05:43 PM IPROH contracts really don't matter. They are easy to break. What the point of having contracts when I will let one of my champions try out for another company.

I think the ROH deal is generally to keep their top guys away from big promotions.
If every NWA Promotion that ran a show in December 2012 joined their crowds up ROH probably outdraws them by themselves so there really is no threat with a Kevin Steen or Rhino or Steve Corino running off and wrestling for the NWA exclusively

Posted January 18th, 2013 06:04 PM IPI was talking about Roh letting Adam Cole try out for WWE
PortCityWhiteBoy Veteran Posts: 469 Registered: May 2011
they should matter. those contracts say my top priority isn't the nwa. it means that if there's a big nwa show anywhere in the country and there's an roh show the same night, guess where the roh contracted wrestler will be? not the nwa show. it's true, i am better than you

the roh contracts aren't easy to break and they do matter. their owners, sinclair broadcasting, invested a lot money in roh. one thing they made sure of was their top talent was under contract. i'm pretty sure sinclair's corporate lawyers have made sure they're not easily breakable.
there have been some snafu's like kenny king alluding to signing a new deal and bolting for tna.
also sinclair allows on a case by case basis for talent to try out for the wwe. if wwe wants them i'd have to guess they wold have to buy them out of their contracts (kill fee).
