I have a question for the audio gurus on this forum. I have been remote recording for a little over a month and have experimented with different bit depths and sample rates. The combinations I have tried are 44.1/16, 44.1/24, 48/16, and 48/24. To be honest I can't really tell a difference in any of them. If anything the 48/24 just added more noise. Is it worth going any higher than 44.1/16 for field recording? Especially since the file sizes are so much larger for the 24 bit recordings.
It is better to prepare and prevent, then repair and repent.

Most serious recordists record at the highest possible rate and then post publicly at lower rates. You have to determine what you feel is the best rate for your own ears.
