I recently found this unusual structure which I believe is a sasquatch winter nest. It's pretty incredible the way is was constructed. Doesn't appear to have been used by humans, no fire pits around, no litter inside, floor of sleeping chamber was not cleared of small branches. I'm hoping to get an investigator from B.F.R.O. out to check it out.

Coop: PM me and let me know if you've filled out a report form or if you've already talked to a WA investigator. Thanks,

Will do Bossburg.
Texas Jerry, I forgot to mention I did a sweep of the interior with a cobweb duster before crawling in and didn't pick up any hairs. I need to get in there on my back with a flashlight and a magnifying glass though and check it out more closely. I haven't had much time up there to do that yet. Heading back on Memorial Day to check it out more closely. May the Forest Be With You. |

| Wow, that's quite impressive. Could only be human or sasquatch by the look of it. |

What a find! Thanks for sharing, Coop. I'd be interested to hear more about the layout, like which way the entrance was facing, etc. Was it facing uphill? It looks quite roomy and comfy with a nice blanket of snow on top. every ending is a new beginning |

I once saw a similar looking shelter, or perhaps it was just thick bushes pushed over by heavy snow into a tunnel open at one end. It was next to a seasonally inhabited building, and nothing much larger than a raccoon could have used it. There was a vertical stack of stones nearby. If it was a structure, it could have been a trap. But it could just as well have been a product of weather, and the stones the work of a human. Since these were near an area of diverse structures that look typical of bigfoot, I had to wonder. "Technological advances are not limited to human populations." |

timsan, it was on a hill, I think the entrance is on a slant slightly up hill, it's fairly level on the floor of it.
It's pretty strong. I climbed up on top of it and was able to walk on the large boughs, I weigh 205 soaking wet and it had no problem handling my weight. The huck underneath gives it a nice spring.
It looks like there is a little sittling and viewing area just above it on the hill on the other side of the two trees. More limbs were arranged there and it had a bowl shaped depression in it. The pics don't really show depth of the bowl so I didn't put those up. May the Forest Be With You. |

Went up in the rain and tried to get a photo of the entrance, pretty hard to get a good shot in the rain but I added them into the set on Flickr. The entrance is covered by nearby bushes. You have to duck down under the brush to get inside of it. I had to pull back some of the brush to even get a clear shot of the entrance, totally hidden from anybody walking by just by the natural vegetation around it. It's kind of like it just grows out the environment. Measured the ceiling, it's 24 inches at the highest point.

I added some more photos at flickr, I got a chance this morning to make another visit and lay down a tarp inside and really search the ceiling of the nest. I didn't find any hairs, but I did get some good photos of the interior walls, ceiling and the entrance path, which is off a game trail. Checked out the nearby area but didn't find anything else of much interest today. I think I have documented the site all I can for now.
timsan, I think there might be a small day nest above the nest just up the hill 20 feet. It looks like there is a bowl shaped depression there in the vegetation and in the branches that are placed over it. There is a good view from there so maybe this was being used by a sentinel? There are two faint paths to it, one leads from the back end to a water source under the brush, the other leads from the game trail to the entrance from under the brush. May the Forest Be With You. |

cmknight, at the end of the set, there are three pictures of human made structures that I found in a suburban park, in a totally different area. The fort was probably made by some kids for playing paintball or war. The teepee and dugout may have been used by homeless people, or perhaps somebody just practicing building shelters in the woods for fun. I put the pictures of the human structures in the set for comparison only to show how different the Sasquatch nest is to human built shelters. The description of photos explains that they are human made and for comparison. I put them in the set to illustrate how human structures are much more organized then the shelter I found. Sorry if there was any confusion on that. May the Forest Be With You. |

No problem cmknight. I updated the tags but I might move those human structure pics to a separate set, it is a bit confusing. May the Forest Be With You. |

Added some pics of the local tree and branch breaks in the area. All within about a mile of the shelter. May the Forest Be With You. |

Great pictures! The tree breaks and the strength of the structure are clues that it might not be man made.
Our scout troop regularly goes on survival camping trips where the boys (and us adults) build and stay in shelters overnight. Usually we try to bushwhack to new remote locations. We are using whatever is available, and when skillfully and creatively built some of these could easily be mistaken for nests. If its scouts, usually there will be several in an area and candy wrapper scraps are a dead give away. Keep Looking! ...and the trees are all kept equal by hatchet, axe and saw. |

sirraftalot, thanks! Good point about the boy scout construction. I remember when I was in Boy Scouts we did the same thing, we did a five mile hike into the woods and then had to build our own shelters. You're right, there were several shelters when we did this as scouts. This structure is solo, it's also built well off into the brush, it's a chore to get to it. It looks like it was intentionally set back off the game trail to avoid detection. I'd think a person would make it in little clearing. This is really tucked away into the Huck brush. No Candy wrappers or signs of fire either
Thanks . May the Forest Be With You. |
