I have hunted on the same property for over 30 years. Although we have seen and heard some weird things in that time, I really think we may have a Sasquatch on our property. Let me explain further; last year, my brother saw something huge and black walking through the woods about a hundred yards or so away. It got to a hill and walked over it on all fours. I thought at that time, he must have seen a bear, although we have never seen or heard of a bear that far South of the North Ga mountains. We are about 30 miles North of Columbus Ga. We didn't see anything else last year anywhere.

This year has been different. It began with a loud scream we heard on a couple of occasions. My 15 year old son and my Dad heard one, me and my son the other. At that time, we thought maybe a cat or something, although it really sounded deeper. I really had never heard anything like it. Then, a few weeks ago, a couple of our hunters were standing talking with us. They were telling us of a "monkey" they had heard. I questioned further and they both said it sounded like a big gorilla/ chimpanzee sound. They were totally serious and my Dad and son heard the same sound a couple of weeks later. When I returned home, I began searching sounds and I ran across some that sounded pretty close to what my son described so I let heim hear them. He said the sounds were almosr identical. They were supposedly bigfoot sounds and I found them on another site.

Now, I have become interested in determining what these noises were and the more I researched, the more I think it very well could be a bigfoot. I have looked for the tree limb markers that I have read about, so far I have saw a limb twist about 10 feet off of the round. I have also heard what I thought were wood knocks on a few occasions. There was one more interesting thing that happened. My parents were camping with my son during the archery season and were sleeping in their pick up with a camper shell prior to me pulling their camper down. As they were sleeping, something hit the side of the truck waking up my Mom and their dog. The dog began barking like crazy, then my dad woke up. My Mom told him what had happened, and he looked out but didn't see anything. Not too surprising, he don't see without his glasses on.

So I ask all of you here to give me your opinions. I will be totally honest, until I hear or see something, it is hearsay to me. So, I will look at your comments and I will continue to be observant while I hunt. We have game cameras out and a few weeks left in the season plus turkey season.

bkb626,

First I would suggest that you submit a report to the BFRO web site. That way one of our investigators can get in touch with you and be a far better help in figuring out what's been happening with your family than the answers you'll get here on the forum.

http://www.bfro.net/GDB/submitfm.asp

Could you please also go to the "Read this first" section on the forum home page, read the posting guidelines and post your introduction? And just FYI, there are three subjects that we don't allow any discussion about. Religion, politics, and guns. Just the mention of them starts moral debates that grow into arguments so we don't even allow them to get started.

The BFRO has a very capable investigator in that area. I alerted her to this post, and I recommend that you speak with her about your experiences.

PBYodeler, I did post my introduction in the read this first forum, I couldn't find it though after I submitted it. Should I do that again? As far as submitting a report, I most likely will do that. I would like to try and get further documented physical proof first. Also, I have asked the other hunters in our group to record the sounds with their cell phones or even photos. I will keep everyone posted. Back to my question, should I re-post my introduction?

bkb626:

Well, you've certainly got something out there in the woods!

I think your experiences--and your qusetions about them--sort of show how folks lots of times think to themselves,
Why should I post a sighting? Maybe this isn't a sighting? Maybe it was? Maybe this isn't important enough? What if I'm wrong? What if I was seeing things/hearing things/mistaken, etc., etc.??????? What if somebody laughs?

Because that's how I felt.

But now I think that every shred of information...even if it is merely a detail or even found to be mistaken....is important, because it either adds to the database, or helps the investigators sift through all the things that can be heard or seen in the woods, so that they can find the ones most likely to be Bigfoots and Bigfoot activities.

Not to mention we all like to read the sightings......

Submit your report. Even if what you saw was a bear it will spark some form of investigation and may reveal the truth one way or the other. Posting your report even with reservations will encourage others to do so. The more data BFRO has the better they are able to weed out the alternatives.

Wow, that is neat! We camped in Pine Mountain, Georgia over Thanksgiving, and I swear on the second night there (Thanksgiving night) I thought I heard whoops. Something woke me up about 2:30 a.m., and I could hear something that sounded quite a ways off in the distance. It's kind of funny because I remember thinking to myself "I wonder if that's a Bigfoot", but I can honestly admit that it was so freezing cold that night I wasn't about to get out of bed to go investigate.

I love hearing about these new sightings. I would venture to guess that there will be lots of evidence to gather in your woods. The BFRO investigator will know exactly what to look for. Please keep us informed if you have anymore weird occurrences.

Lots of stuff going on in Georgia of late. Getting ready to submit a report concerning happenings this past weekend. Extraordinary!!!!!! The western border of Georgia, especially the surrounding areas of Lake West Point and the southern areas of Lake Weiss have seen alot of happenings the past couple years. And even especially the last few months, an attribute I lend to all the local abnormal rainfall recently. My main area of research which is in Central Georgia has also had a lot of activity recently. Sounds interesting...look forward to reading your full report.

OK all, spoke to a BFRO investigator this week and we will be going there to look around with the investigator soon after the hunting season ends. I will be spending a great deal of time in the woods there in the next few weeks, I will be armed with a camera and plan on spending extra time scouting for evidence of BF when not hunting.

Update to original post; Went to the hunting property for 3 days this past weekend,
My parents and my son spent 4 days. Nothing too much report. I couldn't get to the big creek bottom where most of the "monkey" sounds were coming from that the others had heard. The road going in was way too bad due to much rain last week. I did get fairly close on one day and found some rather strange tracks in the creek bed. I showed my son and there were three distinct toe like coming off of a slender type track but it was very hard to tell what to make since they were partly in the mud and the leaves. Also there were rather large footlike areas in the soggy water bottom area that were filled in with water. The unusual thing was the stride was about 4 to 5 feet apart. That would be very hard to do for a human without slipping down in that bottom.

Other than that, there was also a skinny pine tree about twenty feet high that was bent in half toward the ground without it being broke. No other tree in the vicinity was that way. We had no sounds at all from where we were. I did hear distinctly the sounds of owls many times.

We have 16 days left in our hunting season and I will try and coordinate The BFRO contact I have talked to getting down there. I did want to ask a question of posters here. We have a very cold blast of arctic air coming down for the next couple of weeks. Lows in the teens at night and below highs for GA. Would that tend to increase or decrease activity if in fact BF is in the area? Also, would there be any chance we could "bait" one of our stealth cams with some type of food? Thanks in advance for any answers.

I'm no pro but I think for the most part Sasquatch don't fall for the old bait and shoot trick. Unless it's a naive one that's caught off guard. It might be worth a try with something like meat or fruit maybe? Just because you know there in the area don't mean you'll be lucky enough to film them. Remember these animals have some sharp senses to have been able to hide from humans as long as they have. It will take some ingenuity to film one be creative and good luck.

Maybe a recent deer kill for bait? maybe 10 ft from the cam....seems the big guy loves the liver. Good luck and happy camera shots.

That's not a bad suggestion ravellette. There are lots of instances where hunters kill a deer, and for some reason leave it for a while then come back to collect it. Maybe in those situations posting a trail cam to watch over the deer carcass while you're gone would turn up some interesting pics? I recall one time I left a buck for about 30 minutes while I went back to get a buddy to help with the skinning. Came back and a buzzard had already laid claim to my deer.

bkb, regarding your report..... I was also unsure about my sighting because what I saw was also walking on 4 legs. But I knew it wasn't a bear or a dog. It looked like a gorilla from behind and it was also black.

I'd like to know why or when BF gets on all 4s?? Does anyone think that it could be a tactic to camoflage it's identity? I had seen it several times prior at a distance and simply just wrote it off as a dog. However, my last sighting was fairly close up and I had an opportinity to see more detail. Otherwise, I would not have reported it. I would love to hear some feedback on this.

bbwena, keep in mind I haven't seen anything I think is the big guy yet. The report I gave was of what my brother told me he saw. All in all, there have been many "little" odd things and the sounds we have heard that really got me thinking it really could be BF. After researching online looking for answers, this really did start to make more sense. Then a few weeks ago the monkey/gorilla sounds that many people have heard kind of really hit home. I have tried to keep an objective mind and a skeptical point of view. I really would like to know more opinions of what it could be.

I have researched enough in the last few weeks to really consider the HUGE amount of evidence from ALL over the world is pretty convicing. I actually really do believe they are real now. It is very intriguing indeed!

Thanks for clarifying bkb! I also had several incidents throughout my life and did not know what they were. After research, I've come to understand that they are BF and in 2007 I saw one fairly close up. It's is definitely intriguing!! I've been reading everything I can get my hands on. I'd like to go out in the field to investigate the area where my sighting was, but health issues have kept me from that so far.

If anyone has any thoughts on why BF gets on all 4s instead of walking upright, I would like some feedback. I'm very curious as to why the one I saw was on all 4s on every sighting that I had in that particular location.

bbwena,

I recall a couple reports from the database that relate sightings of BF on all fours. One witness, in California, spotted BF running on two feet across a scree slope of boulders in a deep mountain ravine. Every once in a while the BF would come to a large boulder, drop to all fours to negotiate the boulder and then continue on all fours for a short distance, and then get back on two feet to run some more (till it got to the next big boulder). In that situation I would guess the BF went down on all fours for improved tactile traction as it negotiated the more vertical nature of the boulder. More points of contact with the rock, for better security, just like a rock climber.

In another California report the BF was spotted my a motorist, entering the four lane highway from the far left shoulder. It was running fast on two legs as the driver approached and the driver estimated he and the BF were on a collision course in his lane ahead. As the BF reached the median in the middle of the highway it dropped smoothly down to all fours and put on a burst of speed. It quickly crossed the road on all fours, avoiding a collision with the driver (who had also been slowing his vehicle since spotting the creature). So in that situation it appears the BF wanted to move faster.

And I just recalled a third report, this one from Oklahoma, of something scooting across a dirt road on all fours, its butt very close to the ground. The hunters who saw it thought it was similar to a baboon I believe and was trying to maintain a low profile. So that suggests moving on all fours is a good way to avoid being seen.

I would propose that could be the situation in bkb's brother's sighting. The BF may have known it might be observed, so it moved on all fours to minimize its profile. And there's the possibility BF knows it might look like a bear if it stays on all fours, so it may be a type of camouflage ploy. Not that far a stretch given their propensity for staying so well hidden.

Thanks Mono, that was my theory too - that it may stay on all 4s to go unoticed. However, when I saw it 2 times before it was on all 4s and a distance along the woodline. Then when I saw it closer near the road,,but still alone the woodline, it was in a long grassy field. It was looking at the car as it moved fairly slowly to keep pace with the car...just trotting - like a dog would chase a car. And it wasn't until it was closer that I could make out specific details that started me questioning what it was. IE no tail, no visible ears, no snout. I saw it from behind first and I thought it was a gorilla. So, it certainly wasn't running or trying to speed up, which is why I started question why it would do that?

I don't have a ready explanation for the behavior you observed, but can offer the following observations. Just based on all the reports I've read in BFROs database, the BF seems to be 1 - very prone to curiousity, 2 - capable of behaving in a startlingly wide array of behaviors (as opposed to a cow for instance), and 3 - intelligent on a level above most animals (i.e. both sapient and sentient). Put those three things together and you have a creature that wants to learn about its environment and is capable of some clever behavior in the pursuit of acquiring that knowledge (while still acting to protect itself).

Well said Mono. They are very crafty.

The other thought I had was that could it be a juvenile? Maybe more comfortable on all 4s first before walking upright....kinda like a human baby.

I was thinking this morning about the fact the arms on the photos and videos I have seen seem to be very long. What would be the reason for this unless they do use them to navigate on all fours? I would think especially juveniles as bbwena says here would most likely navigate that way early on. By having longer arms, it allows the head and spine to align more for a straight on view without bending the neck so much. I never even thought or had heard about this possibility before joining this sight. As a matter of fact, the first thought when my brother told me when he saw that, was of a bear. But again we have hunted that property for more than 30 years, we have never seen any sign whatsoever of a bear.

I still think the whole thought of a BF on our property kind of sureal. But the evidence points to that possibility more than anything else. That still has me very intrigued and excited. Before any of this happened I thought it could be possible, now I think it probable. Thanks so much for this sight and all of the scientific approaches most people here have. I have no time for the silly hyperbole from other sites. I have learned much in the past few weeks, I think I might be hooked big time into this field of research. That may not be so good for the wallet though!

I found a BC sighting that refers to a BF bending over when a helicopter came near,
"..then as our helicopter came up from service 3 of us witnessed the critter bend over just like a man would too touch his toes and then stand straight again, we looked away for a minutes too start logging, looked back and it was gone!: BFRO report: http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=9267

Wow, I found another one.... " the Subject was bending up and down, up and down, but the bending was very strange, as the body seemed longer than a person, and Subject bent from the Hips, not bending it's back like a human would do.." BFRO report: http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=9670
