Sounds interesting. Wish I could attend.
I have a question about the photo in the article at the link you provide. Specifically: http://www.washingtonhistory.org/im...is1_lrg_web.jpg
Where does that photo come from? It looks like an B&W era photograph, but I can't recall ever seeing this one in circulation. Monongahela

I'm not familiar with the photo either; if anyone here attends the exhibit (or has connections at the sponsoring institution) maybe he/she could ask around. On the internet, no one knows you're a squatch. . . |

It's not from Biscardi. It's a still captured from a film taken by Ivan Marx and determined to be a hoax. Google Ivan Marx to learn more about it.
Let's keep this thread on the topic of the museum exhibit. PBYodeler |

In addition, June 6, 2010 has been designated "Sasquatch Day" at the museum, featuring appearances by Dr. Meldrum and Bob Gimlin. It should be an educational experience not to be missed. Tyler Wm. Bounds

Hi everyone. I inquired about the date and I recieved a message from the event director of the museum:
"...the program is planned for Saturday, June 5, not Sunday the sixth. Meldrum and Gimlin are expected to attend. Final planning is still going on, but tentatively a morning and an afternoon event are imagined."
If I recieve and update I will post it.

GoodMoJo:
Is this the same museum that featured a year-long Bigfoot display two years ago? Oops, no it's not. My wife just told me it was in Olympia: The State Capital Museum in the Lord Mansion on 21st Ave. My family and I attended that one and it was outstanding. Peter Byrne was there and told about the older couple he met west of The Dalles, OR who told him about the "big gorilla" they'd seen on their ranch up on Seven Mile Hill. He was interviewing people at the time concerning the sighting at the mobile home park by the Columbia River. Jeff Meldrum presented slides. Robert Micheal Pyle attended. I hope this one is like that. usfs brushape |

well I misread the dates and thought it ended January 27 instead of June 27, so I rushed out today and saw it, and thought some of you might be interested in hearing about it.
The exhibit isn't too huge, but it has the things I expected. It was my first time seeing actual footprint casts (or at least replicas of) from some of the more famous researchers. Cripplefoot was included, which I found interesting, as well as one that claimed dermal ridges which frankly I couldn't see. I found the knuckle print cast the most intriguing, as it was probably over twice the size of my fist. Awesome stuff.
There were newspaper articles dating back to the early 1900s which were an interesting read, and maps of both local sightings/prints and a world map showing different regions' versions of bigfoot. I noticed in the South Carolina region they called it a Wookie, and I couldn't help but wonder if that came from Star Wars or if George Lucas had heard of the legend and named Chewbacca after that. Although some of these connections seemed a bit liberal, with stories of 4 foot tall pygmy like hairy men and such, it was really interesting to see basically the same creature described in virtually every continent, in almost the same way, dating back to before written history.
I was looking forward to some Native American history in connection with Bigfoot, and I found that a little lacking. There were a few stories on the wall, some which seemed VERY bigfoot-esque and others that sounded like children's stories that didn't add much to the experience for me. The masks on the wall didn't seem to resemble Sasquatch any more than they did just a human mask to me, so not even really sure what the connection was. Maybe I missed a plaque explaining the background (which I really wanted). What was interesting was a stone carving of a head dated back as much as 1500 years ago found on the Olympic Peninsula that looked VERY ape-like, complete with crest, brow and jaw matching something ape-like that no Native American would have ever seen...
The had a video playing that covered the Tom Slick expedition and interviewed quite a few people that was interesting. They included some crackpots including a 'sasquatch psychic' that claimed he was contacted by one that said he was a "Sasquatch Man" and that when they break an arm they carry them back to the mother ship to be healed or some such thing... that dude was out there, as well as the lady who said they were from the planet Hercules Mercury. Other than that, it was a pretty interesting video.
All in all, it was well worth the $8 and 35 minute drive. I may go back in a few months, hopefully after I've seen one for myself hehe |

Are you sure that the Stone Head discription said it was from the Oly Pen...? Because I seen the same exhibit at Wash State Capital Museum.. And when I saw the exhibit I'm pretty sure the discription of the Stone Head said it was from the Columbia River Basin.. I may be wrong, it's been awhile since I seen it.. But I thought it was from the Basin... Kool exhibit though wasn't it... "He who seeketh long enough and hard enough will find the truth, whatever that truth may be." Roger Patterson

| yeah you're probably right -- I read everything there so probably got confused about where it was found. In my original post I think I even put a a little "I think" after the Olympic Peninsula. Either way, I thought it was pretty interesting... although looking at your picture it kinda looks like a bear now lol. |
