Sorry for the delay in getting this report on the board.
Tuesday June 23rd
We had some early arrivals to the expedition to get everything set up and do some preliminary scouting of the area.
JohnS shuttled MM, JS, CB and SI to a location about four and half miles from camp. CT left Base Camp to meet them.
1930 Hours: About a half a mile from Base Camp CT heard a double wood knock while waiting for four members on the trail. Within thirty seconds of the wood knocks MM appeared on the trail.
That evening TS cooked a Dutch Oven meal for everyone. We had chicken and potatoes. The potatoes had bacon and whole mushrooms, topped with lots of cheese.
Wednesday June 24th
0011 Hours: SI, CB, and JohnS heard unknown vocalizations. The source was unknown and the direction was undetermined. Vocalization that followed was coming from a nearby camp.
0042 Hours: A wood knock was heard Northeast of Base Camp by SI, JLS and AS.
That morning at Base Camp a breakfast of sausage, eggs and hash browns were provided. The rest of the day Attendees trickled in.
Thursday June 25th
Most Attendees arrived before the Expedition kicked off. MM started the ‘Meet & Greet’ meeting. We had the privilege of hearing some first hand accounts of class A-sightings and several Class B-sightings. While the meeting was being conducted, TS and MS cooked baked potatoes and rib eye steaks for everyone over the open fire pit. Everyone was truly grateful and the steaks were awesome.
1900 Hours (estimate): During the meet and greet meeting JLS was sitting outside of the area a bit and heard a series of 7 wood knocks from the Northeast and East of Base Camp from at least two different locations. That evening we geared up to go out but a Thunder Storm rolled in so we stuck close to Base Camp. We had some exciting moments but the events were inconclusive and dismissed for lack of evidence.
Friday June 26th
Base Camp
1600 Hours: JohnS presented a casting class.
1700 Hours: VD reported hearing 3 sets of different wood knocks from Base Camp from the Northeast moving to a more easterly direction. This was from the same general direction that knocks were heard the previous day and very similar in nature. The area was explored and significant game trails were discovered. There was also a rather large sample of scat found. If it was bear it was on the extreme high end of bear scat.
It was determined that we would have two areas of focus for this evenings events. A group would be heading over to forty-knock canyon and the rest would remain around camp. There was also going to be a remote camp about a half a mile from camp along a trail.
Forty-Knock Canyon
2000 Hours: CT heard rock clacks north up the draw from the base area.
Shortly after the remaining group arrived at Forty Knock SI did a couple of howls about thirty minutes apart to get things started.
2130 Hours: AS heard a distant vocalization resembling a scream up the canyon to the north with the bionic ears.
We were then going to leave the main base area and do some wood knocks once the R2 unit was in place. The main group, or the more vocal group was going first with another group trailing behind. About 10 minutes into the walk it started to rain and the walk was called off.
JohnS then took three individuals and headed to an area further up the canyon. The group stopped from time to time to look around and listen. At one point in time something moved in front of the truck as the team was sitting there. One of the members saw red eyes shine while another saw the eyes through night vision with an IR beam reflecting off of the eyes. Was undetermined what it was.
2340 Hours: While driving further up forty knock canyon JohnS say eye shine on the drivers side at about 10:00 o’clock. JohnS quickly stopped the truck and shut everything down. At that moment all four members heard several loud whistles with several clacking noises from multiple locations coming from the drivers side of the truck. The team listened for further activity but did not hear anything. The team was also about 200 yards from a campfire. The first impression was that the team surprised some Squatches looking at a camp. The team quickly headed back down to the base area to get the truck with the recording R2 unit back up there.
0050 Hours (June 27th): JohnS’s group directed the R2 unit back to the location. While there MS heard three wood knocks that sounded like a bat hitting a tree from the passenger side of the vehicle further away from camp. While walking around JohnS’s group then realized how loud the small stream was in this location. The whistles and clacks would have needed to be loud enough to be heard over the stream.
All but a few returned back to base camp. Those who stayed to camp at forty knock reported no further events that night.
Saturday June 27th
1400 Hours: JohnS, at base camp, presented a tracking class.
Saturday night was going to have three groups. JohnS would return to forty knock with eight others. His truck would have a recording R2 unit.
Another group would be on the plateau.
The remaining members would be active around base camp.
The forty-knock team reported hearing two possible wood knocks.
The plateau team reported nothing.
The base camp team reported some possible vocalizations.
Sunday June 28th
0900 Hours: JohnS provided a pancake breakfast at base camp. Last minute details were gathered. Sometime on Saturday a teenager went out on an island in the river by base camp and had several rocks thrown at them.
One of the members, CH, noticed some of the following plant life in the area not far from base camp: wild strawberries, blueberries, choke cherries, goose berries, raspberries, service berries, elder berries, and wild onions.
Everyone I spoke with had a good time. I especially did. It was very cool listening to individuals explain why they are interested in the subject. Hearing reports back from the nightly activities are always fun too.
I may have left out some details. This is all the information I gathered. Please fill free to correct my information or add to it.

Note:
Although the attendees to this trip ate very well, it was the generosity of the organizers and volunteers that did the cooking. Just because it happened on this trip doesn't mean it's going to happen on every expedition. Anyone attending an expedition needs to come prepared to cook for themselves. PBYodeler |

TOO True! I would guess that each Organizer will handle meals differently and some may do things this elaborate......but don't count on it. Greetings from Southern Oregon!! |

Thanks for the clarification on the notes. Meals are not provided on expeditions. You should come prepared to support yourself one hundred percent in both food and equipment. The organizer is there to provide a suitable area to look for Squatch, have a structure and agenda. This expedition was an exception (food being provided) in that individuals showed up and through their generosity provided meals for those who were there at the time. Thanks PBYodeler for the clarification. Sorry if there was any confusion or misunderstanding.

Yes, I could have burned them.
John, that was an awesome time and a beautiful part of the world that I have never seen. If you will have me, I would love to come out next year. It is worth every mile of the 14 hours to get there. Mitch S. NE-BFRO |

You are always welcome around the camp fire. It was tons of fun and I am glad you were at Wyoming as well. I am sure that bear looking in your tent was loads of fun too. Probably as much fun as if you would have sprayed yourself with bear spray.

I forgot to mention that the news paper article went one step further. My company put it into their news letter they publish once a month. Squatching in Northern Utah... |
