Posted 18th November 2009 03:08 PM IP Just found this fitting tribute on the UCL's Website.
Please read & leave your comments below.
Cogenhoe United FC have announced that assistant manager Danny Liquorish passed away this morning, 19th November, after an eight month battle with cancer.
Danny was just 46 years old.
Danny was on the books of Wolverhampton Wanderers as a young goalkeeper and then played in the Leicestershire Senior League for Newfoundpool and Wigston Town, from where he joined then UCL club Rothwell Town in October 1989. He was a key man in the Bones success story of the early 1990s winning trophies galore, back to back league titles and two wins apiece in the league's Knockout and Benevolent Cups, before helping establish Rothwell Town in the Southern League.
Perhaps Danny's finest season was 1992-93 when he kept thirty clean sheets in an ever present 61 game season for the Bones as the club completed a historic treble of the league's domestic trophies.
In December 1996 Danny joined Corby Town and was Player of the Year after helping the Steelmen survive in Southern Leaue football. He then had brief spells back with Rothwell and with VS Rugby before winding down his career to concentrate on coaching.
Danny was goalkeeper coach at Corby, Rothwell - where the occasional on field appearance took him to 400 games for the club - and finally Wellingborough as part of Nick Ashby's backroom team.
In the summer of 2007 Danny became assistant to newly appointed Cogenhoe manager Darren Collins at Compton Park.
As a mark of respect the 19th November Premier Division match between the Cooks and Danny's previous club Wellingborough has been postponed.
Popular at all his clubs and beyond, Danny will be sadly missed by many on the local football circuit. Our condolences go to his family and friends.

Posted 18th November 2009 03:17 PM IP Taken from the Non League Daily Website.
I am personally extremely saddened to learn of the death of an old friend of mine, former goalkeeper Danny Liquorish, who was assistant-manager of Hereward Teamwear United Counties League Premier Division club Cogenhoe United until being too ill to continue in the role, at the age of only 46.
I had know Danny since 1989 when he was playing for Rothwell Town and we became good mates, often having Saturday morning breakfasts together before going off to our respective matches.
A lively, jovial person, he was also a very good goalkeeper who helped the Bones to promotion from the UCL to the Southern League having previously played in the Leicestershire Senior League after originally being on the books at home-town Leicester City.
He made more than 400 appearances for Rothwell and also earned a players` player of the year award at Corby Town where his performances were a major factor in the Steelmen remaining in the Southern League.
A more-than-useful cricketer too, Danny went on to become a goalkeeping coach of some note and was in that role at Rothwell and then Wellingborough Town before becoming number two to former Rushden & Diamonds and England semi-professional international striker Darren Collins at Cogenhoe in 2007.
Danny had been battling with Cancer for the past eight months and recently had been admitted to a local hospice where he passed away this morning.
Ironically, Danny`s last two clubs were due to play each other on Wednesday night, but as a mark of respect, the game has been postponed.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

To the players and Darren all the best over the next few weeks. Im very saddened to hear of Dannys departure to Gods Land. He is and always will be a great bloke, and i will never forget his heroics in goal for Corby Town whilst I was a young lad playing in the 1st team.

Posted 18th November 2009 06:41 PM IP Danny has been a true friend of Cogenhoe United for many years, not just during the past 2 and half years as our assistant manager. His love of sport brought us close to Danny many times, it was a pleasure each and every time we met.
In competitve sport he showed with his gloves the way to break our hearts; today he has shown us again, this time in sadness of his passing.
The world of football is one short.
God bless and rest in peace.

Very sad news indeed.
I spoke to Danny at Bourne Town last season, and he was a very kind gentleman indeed.
