This is the first time I've been moved to post on a site like this, but hey I'm English!

I read the LR series of books as they were published and imported them from the US. I have to say that it was the most inspiring storyline I've ever read. Who could fail to feel the hackles rise on the backs of their necks as the order to charge was made when their was no hope at the end of book 1?
It's an anglo saxon thing ..don't underestimate the quality and passion that the scene evokes (as if you would)
I read the series as it was published and grew old with the chracters!!
I don't understand why a movie has not been in the offing, LOTR eat your heart out, the technology would allow the book to be fully realised on the screen.
Thank you for a wonderful story.............

By george he's got it !!!!!

By the way apologies for the reference to "anglo saxon". I seem to remember that there was a lot of "celtic" passion also............................................

I love this series, it hits you at a very basic level. You care about the chracters and that's the mark of good writing in my opinion

I've always been a sci-fi fan, and a Civil War buff--I love it when they converge (which isn't too often), such as in the beginning of Mysterious Island, and especially LR.

Also, I was reading the LR books for the first time right around September 11, 2001, and that created an emotional and political link between them for me that persists to this day.

Yes, the characters are great--and now, based on repeated readings, they feel like family.
