Posted April 6th, 2009 03:48 PM IP I've sold/traded-off most of my center-fire calibers and finally jumped thru all the legal hoops and got a "legal" suppressor for .22 Rimfires.
IF you like to shoot, but are troubled even in the coutnry by city people moving in and coplaining about yoru shooting, a "legal" suppressor may be a worhtwhile solution.
With Std. Vel. ammo there is no more noise than a Red Ryder B-B gun.
Another older fellow and myself shoot "control" of groundsquirrels in some of the local hay farmers fields where they cause real problems....
Pretty easy to see it will be a useful tool for this, and if a person is nto totally devoid of imagination he could envision just how useful it might be in a "One Second" scenario.
Cost of suppressor aprox $200
Cost of registration , $200 to BATF
I have wanted one from about age 10, 50-some years ago, and figured, "Why be scared of yet ANOTHER gov't. agency having me on their "list" (since they almost certainly DO already), so spent the $'s for a thread-on unit from SRT.
(Get a user-serviceable one, NOT a "sealed unit".....22LR is DIRTY, and it will build up in a sealed unit.)
If accurascy is affected at all, it is for the good.
I now have several rifles with their muzzles threaded so I can switch the suppressor form one to the other.
I don't have the $'s to put together SOCOM-type tricked-out stuff, but I can (almost ;-) afford to have ammo and get muzzles threaded on my existing .22 rifles.

Best to ALL!
