Quote: Lifetime has greenlighted The June Carter Cash Story, an original movie starring singer Jewel as the country icon. Matt Ross (American Horror Story) is set to play music legend Johnny Cash, Carter Cash’s husband. The film is based on the memoir Anchored In Love: An Intimate Portrait Of June Carter Cash by Carter Cash’s son John Carter Cash. Allison Anders (Southland) will direct from a screenplay by Richard Friedenberg (Lifetime’s Of Two Minds). Produced by Asylum Entertainment, The June Carter Cash Story will begin filming this summer in Atlanta for a premiere later this year. Steven Michaels, Jonathan Koch and John Carter Cash are executive producing.
The June Carter Cash Story follows June from early childhood growing up in the rural mountains of Virginia to her turbulent yet enduring relationship with Johnny Cash. The film chronicles June’s rise to fame with her singing family before breaking out on her own to perform alongside top entertainers like Elvis Presley. The June Carter Cash Story also takes a personal look at June’s first two marriages, her relationship with her kids and her infamous courtship with Cash, who would become her third and longtime husband. The movie showcases June’s role in saving Cash’s life during his battles with substance abuse. “Many people know about the legendary love story of Johnny and June,” said Lifetime’s EVP Rob Sharenow. “But June Carter Cash has her own epic journey filled with triumphs, tragedies, loves and losses. This movie will explore all aspects of the woman behind the icon, and we’re thrilled Jewel will be playing the title role.” Reese Witherspoon portrayed Jane Carter in the 2005 movie Walk The Line, earning an Oscar for her performance. Joaquin Phoenix played Johnny Cash in the movie.
This marks the first major screen acting gig for CAA-repped Jewel, whose previous credits include small roles in Ang Lee’s Ride With The Devil and Jake Kasdan’s Walk Hard. Jewel burst into the music scene with her 1995 debut album Pieces of You, one of the best-selling debut albums of all time, going 15 times platinum. Her most recent album, The Merry Goes Round, was released last year. This marks the latest high-profile biopic for Lifetime, which is in pre-production on Liz & Dick, about the love story of movie icons Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, with Lindsay Lohan set as Taylor. Anders is with APA.
The downside of being better than everyone else is that people tend to assume you're pretentious.

Posted 05-03-12 02:38 PM IPWhat is the original air date???Honestly, I've had it with all the criticism and whining and crying about how weak Ellen Page's hustle has become. Especially from you Tracy. Obviously, Ellen Page is simply doing the best she can with what's she's got. The girls on this board, you know who you are, are simply full of shallow jealousy. It's not Ellen Page's fault that she's blessed with a perfect face and an okay body. Normally I don't care for Ellen Page's thoughtful complaining, only because her whining is so droll and repetitious. There I said it. You can ban me for giving this up Emilie. Have a good weekend everybody, and remember even beautiful people who complain about their lives when there's nothing to complain about need our support too. Catch a clue.

Posted 05-04-12 05:55 PM IPI was uninterested until I saw Allison Anders' name in the mix. She does some seriously good work. Her film Gas Food Lodging is one of my all-time favorites. If it's on TBDN I'll never see it unless I download it somewhere, but at least w/ Ms. Anders at the helm it probably won't suck."That lyric sounds like she got it out of a fortune cookie!"
"Lifetime has cast the singer Jewel... Previously only seen in bit parts in Ang Lee’s 'Ride With The Devil' and 'Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story' (which, ironically, poked fun at projects resembling, oh, this one)."
The story Yoko Ono never wanted to surface... the most unbelievable story in the history of popular music !!!
The May Pang Story (A seven year project by the astonishingly Intrepid Prez)

Here I'll do it...
Lifetime is a low quality basic cable channel in America, but sometimes the films on lifetime are really not that bad...
Lifetime channel is known to produce films for unsophisticated females in America who watch a lot of television and don't get out much...
No offense ladies or to the people who like Lifetime and Hallmark Channels...
Actually sometimes I like movies on Lifetime and Hallmark Channels at least they seem new and fresh and are'nt dominated by the same droll Hollywood types available at the theaters...
Hallmark channel seems to make better films of the two...
Check out a Nora Roberts film sometime you might like it...Honestly, I've had it with all the criticism and whining and crying about how weak Ellen Page's hustle has become. In an upcoming Lifetime movie, Jewel will portray country legend June Carter Cash, CBS and the Associated Press report. The role of Cash won Reese Witherspoon an Oscar for her performance in 2005's Walk the Line.
Based on the book Anchored in Love, which John Carter Cash wrote about his mother, the movie will begin filming this summer in Atlanta and is scheduled to premiere later this year.
Matt Ross, who portrays Charles Montgomery on American Horror Story, will play Johnny Cash opposite the Grammy-winning Jewel.
