Posted 3rd February 2010 08:26 IP Just out of curiosity Chelsea Blue, have you ever played football? Please don't take this disrespectfully, i'm just wondering. i agree there is alot of swearing on pitches and at local football it should be kept down to a minimum with supporters and children being so close by, BUT unfortunately it's never going to stop, it goes hand in hand - It's passion, frustration, anger and even elation. It just happens, that's the only excuse i have!! Referees are trying to keep it down by communicating through captains, this does seem to be working a bit. But it's never going to stop. My advise would be if it bothers people or they don't want their kids hearing it then stay away.

With respect, when there is nobody watching local football, and you can't afford to pay players! then you might think if only we had done something about swearing.
To hide behind passion and all the other excuses is the easy way out. People are passionate about lots of things, but they don't go around swearing all the time!
I thought the idea was to attract supporters to football ? not drive them away !

Posted 3rd February 2010 09:33 IP I'm not hiding behind it as an excuse, it's a fact and it's never gonna change - Just being realistic.
I agree it should be minimised and stamped out as much as possible - but it's never going to stop alltogether.

i understand the passion in football as i played to a fair level myself but my point being this season the swearing has got much worse i have heard the c*** word used home / away on one occasion the referee was less than 6 yards from the player and did nothing
