(We open up inside the home of Alyssa and Abby in Burlington, Vermont. There, we see Alyssa Ferro in a track suit, running on the treadmill and watching TV. She is watching some wrestling recap show, and, most importantly, a program on TWC. She seems to be more intent on it then normal, as she turns the volume up on the TV. As she does, Abby walks out from the back room.)
Abby: What are you watching?
Alyssa: They are talking about the TWC. There’s apparently this giant match for the TWC World Title at the next pay per view, and anyone who’s ever been in the TWC is invited to participate. So far, only a couple of people have signed up to do it.
Abby: Are you considering doing it?
Alyssa: I don’t see why not. I mean, if I ever have a chance on winning a World Title in my life, then this is the opportunity right here. It beats sitting at home while you’re working the entire day.
Abby: You think you can do it?
Alyssa: All I do is workout and watch TV all day. I get so bored without something exciting to do around here, that my mind has been focused on nothing but getting back in the ring. And now, I have the opportunity to not only get back in the ring, but to win the World Title. I can’t say no to this opportunity.
Abby: Well, normally I would say that you shouldn’t do this, or to thing really long and hard about it. But since your career was cut short not because of injury, but because of being fired, then I think you should go for it. I will stand behind you 100%.
(Alyssa turns off the treadmill and turns down the volume to the TV. She stands in front of Abby as she speaks.)
Alyssa: With Andy retired and nobody else wanting to step up and return to the ring, there needs to be SOMEONE in our group of friends who is still wrestling. I mean, what are we going to talk about when we all get together?
Abby: The weather?
Alyssa: Andy and Walter hate talking about those kinds of trivial things. And besides, it’s no fun! Now, talking about taking the head of the person you just faced and slamming them into the mat from the top rope, well…THAT’S fun!
Abby: (sarcastically) Oh, I bet. But look, if you’re going to do this and are serious about it, then we need to start working now. It’s Saturday, and the match is Thursday. We’re going to need to work hard the next 4 days.
Alyssa: I already had a plan for that. I was going to give Andy a call and see if he could help me get ready for the match. Now that he’s retired…
Abby: Don’t even think about it. Since he’s retired, he’ll feel obligated to help you, but I know he’s got other, more important things to worry about right now. And besides, people already thought before that you were just the trainee of Centurion. If you call him in to help you with this match, people are going to have a field day with you. And besides, you can do this without him. Who are some of your opponents?
Alyssa: The ones who have announced are Jeremy Adonis, Brazy, Aurora Frost, Dan Fierce and John Rogan.
Abby: Alright, a couple of familiar names, and a couple new ones. Brazy and Aurora Frost are new. You know anything about them?
Alyssa: Absolutely not, but from I’ve been hearing, Brazy isn’t that great. Aurora Frost has upside, but is too new. I’m not too worried about them, no matter how much training I get done.
Abby: Alright, point taken. The others, though, you have experience with…
Alyssa: …ish. John Rogan…I never faced. He came into the TWC as I was leaving. So, I don’t know anything about him. He may or may not be good. Dan Fierce, however, I do know a lot about.
Abby: Yeah, he was in the XWF, too, wasn’t he?
Alyssa: Yeah, he fought Andy a couple of times. He’s also openly gay, and gets a lot of crap for it, which is similar to what I went through when I first got into the TWC. You know, I never understood that. Do people not have anything else to attack a person on then their religion, or race, or, God forbid, sexual orientation?
Abby: You should know by now, Lyss, that people go after those things because they are different, and they feel it is a weakness. People think that Dan Fierce is weak because he is different then them, and they feel you are weak because you are different then them, as well. A woman liking other women is unheard of in that business, unless it’s one of those sluty lesbian couples that air their sex life to the wrestling public to see how many men get an erection.
Alyssa: Oh, I HATE that shit! What do those women try to accomplish by doing that? They are setting back gay rights by 20 years!
(Abby, seeing Alyssa is getting off topic, places her hand on the back of Alyssa’s head and stabilizes her.)
Abby: I need you to focus here. There is one more opponent you haven’t talked about…a very tough opponent.
Alyssa: Jeremy Adonis. Jeremy Adonis is a womanizer and a ****phobe…but he’s also a very tough wrestler and very smart in the ring. He’s defiantly the best wrestler in that ring…but it would be a shame to see him win the World Title.
Abby: If your account of his character is correct, then I agree with you. You can’t have someone like that being the face of your federation. But do you think you can beat him with only a couple of days of preparation?
Alyssa: It’s not just a couple days of preparation. I’ve been preparing since I was fired for not listening to that tyrannical bastard, Mr. Balls. Now that James has taken some control of the TWC, I know things will be different in the TWC. It will be a much more open, diverse place. Ringside will be filled with budding meadows of posies and wildflowers! …ok, maybe not, but things will be different.
Abby: Well, I hope so.
(Abby turns around and goes to walk into the bedroom. Alyssa walks behind her, sort of sneakily. Abby gets in the bedroom and starts to put clothes away, when she notices Alyssa standing in the doorway.)
Abby: …what?
Alyssa: Are you going to manage me?!
Abby: Oh, Lyss, I don’t know. I haven’t been the best manager for you. I was thinking, with Andy being retired, we could ask Catherine to be your manager and trainer for a while.
Alyssa: Blah! Catherine is great and all…but I want you! I don’t want to do this without you being there, ringside, next to me. You’re my rock and foundation, for which all things are built.
Abby: (sighs) I’m going to sit here, and give all these reasons for why I shouldn’t be your manager. Then you’re going to stand there and tell me that you don’t want to do this without me. Then I’m going to say that, because I love you, you need to find someone else. Then you’re going to break down and cry until I give in and choose to be your manager. So, why don’t we just skip all those steps…I’ll do it.
(Alyssa squeals and jumps into Abby’s arms. The two fall backwards onto the bed as the camera cuts.)
