(We open up inside the home of Abby and Alyssa in Burlington, Vermont. There, we go to the bedroom, where we hear a lot of commotion going on. In the bed, we see a bed sheet, and two mounds, and we can come to our own conclusion as to what is going on. The movement and the sounds get slower and quieter overtime, and finally the white sheet gets pulled down and we see Alyssa and Abby lying with their heads on their pillows, catching their breath.)
Abby: A little more stamina tonight, huh?
Alyssa: Well, I have been working much harder lately on getting back in ring shape. That’s part of it.
Abby: I guess. We’re never gone more then three in a night before. That was amazing!
Alyssa: That’s because I’M amazing.
(Abby playfully slaps Alyssa in the arm.)
Abby: Now you’re just being cocky. If you can translate that to the ring, however, I don’t know anyone who can beat you.
Alyssa: Unfortunately wrestling isn’t anything like sex…despite the fact that some of the moves are very sexual.
Abby: That’s not what I’m saying. If you can have that kind of stamina in the bedroom, you could last in the ring for a battle royal. It’s a good thing to have for the main event at ReGenesis.
(Alyssa turns over, and places her head on Abby’s chest. Abby wraps her arm around Alyssa as Alyssa closes her eyes.)
Alyssa: Do you think I can do this? Like, I have an actual shot at this?
Abby: You’ve got the passion and the drive to do it. You’ve been working on this for months now, and you finally have the chance to walk out of there with it. If you put your mind to it and focus on it, I don’t see why you shouldn’t.
Alyssa: It’s just that…I’ve fought for this title so many times before, and I was unable to win it. And every time before, I’ve focused so hard and put so much work and dedication into it. What if I fail again? What if I’m unable to win?
Abby: Those things happen, Lyss. The thing you need to remember is that you tried your hardest and you left with no regrets.
Alyssa: But what if your hardest isn’t good enough? What if you look around, after doing the best you’ve possibly could have done, and find out that you’ve made no considerable impact on the world. That you’ve made no impact on life itself? What do you say to yourself after that?
Abby: You don’t feel that way, do you?
Alyssa: Why shouldn’t I? I’m 24 years old and I haven’t done a thing with my life. I’m a semi-retired low card wrestler. I never graduated from college, I don’t have any good education…I’m just sort of here. And it seems everything I put my heart into turns out badly.
Abby: Not true. You put your heart in this relationship, and it’s turning out just fine. Regardless of what your parents say, this is right for you, and you deserve to be happy.
(Alyssa shifts a little bit, her eyes still closed and her head still on Abby’s chest. Abby lets out a sigh and closes her eyes, though she is still engaging in conversation with Alyssa.)
Abby: I know that you haven’t been doing well lately, and I’m sorry that I haven’t been as supportive of you. Sometimes I forget just how fragile you are. However, I do have faith in you, and I know that, if you set your mind to something, you will succeed.
Alyssa: I’m going to try my hardest. I’m just afraid of what might happen if I don’t win.
