Well folks it's all over. Just waitin for the numbers to roll in, and the movie offers. Proud of my fine son Atz Lee who represented the struggler in all of us. Good job Otto, Char, August, Eivin, Eve, Jane and Mike. Biggest thanks to Bonnie, happy behind the scene. Only so much room on the Kilcher stage. Stay tuned for our soon to be released c.d. my sixth, her first. I'm proud of her for singing and recording and performing with me. Thanks to all of you who watched and got in touch. We're all stars, we're all frontiersman, no matter what frontier or where we live.

Talk about celebrity fever !!!

"Thats why we live the way we do. Large corporations stretch their evil hands into the farthest reaches. I've seen alot of changes in homer and it saddens me. You don't know the half of it Roy. Resist "the mans" temptations and go get your dinner from the land."</b>

Seems the other way around to me.

The whole point of livin in the "farthest reaches" of the wilderness is to escape the "large corporations stretchin their evil hands". Yet Atz doesn't seem to be resisting "the man's temptations" too hard.

In fact, the opposite seems to be goin on. He's the one stretchin out his hand to the "large corporations" to gain a little celebrity status.

Like, how can inviting a TV reality show into your lives be a strive for solitude? There ain't too many corporations bigger than TV corporations.

And yeah, who is quite content to take "the man's" money to appear on a show that misrepresents the Kilcher lifestyle? Even by his own admission, the show is 90% bullshit.

Unfigginbelievable.

EDIT: Corrected name.

I haven't watched that one yet...but I do agree with your over-dramatic comment!!! it was fun in the first episode...but it quickly gets annnoying!

Like Atz/Atz-Lee/Atz-Smith/Atz-Whoever-He-Is clearly said: "The show is 90% bullshit". Yet everyone on the show is performing from the script given to them by 'the Man who's evil hands stretches into the farthest reaches'.

There's not too much isolation going on.. seems pretty evident the family are seeking the opposite. They have all guns blazing for a little worldly celebrity rather than to quietly live a peaceful life in Alaska, the Last Frontier.

If the show is not somewhat hypocritical, then its surely a laughable farce.

easy...

I was thinking the same thing- his contract probably paid a little bit more to allow his character to be portrayed as the village/homestead idiot"

Emilie finally watched the last episode, I loved the footage of Yule at the very end!!!! I love his accent...do any of you remember how Jewel imitates him in VH1 Storytellers??? she totally nailed it!!!!!

also, I was surprised to learn that Atz Lee's son is named Etienne...is that a common name in the US??? I always thought it was a french name...

Emilie- Etienne was a common name in my french class at least. Anyone named Steven ( a very common U.S. name) was called Etienne in french class. So it is my impression Etienne is the french version of Steven.

How are you btw?!

BigSwamp Could somebody help me out? Are Atz and Otto Jewel's uncles? I don't blame them for having celebrity fever. They got hours and hours of national primary cable television channel coverage. It was fairly interesting watching these people kill themselves to get ready to come close to starving to death during the Alaska winter on discovery channel. I checked it out on channel 48 on my set up. Thats heavily flipped through on the remote in my area anyway. I would definitely not want to use an outhouse during the Alaska winter. :JustinsBlueCouchToHideFromEmilie:

cardinalandgold Otto is her uncle. Atz is her father. Atz Lee is her brother. Eivin is her cousin. Eve is Eivin's wife. Jane is crazy ... I mean Atz Lee's wife.

BigSwamp Thanks for the clarification. I saw it again this weekend, but I could only make it through the first two hours. I saw the end of the third hour. There is no mention of Jewel on the show. I was kind of suprised about that. Did you see Otto climb that tree that guy is a serious nut case. He is 100 feet off the ground to top a tree. No big deal on his part.

Not 100. Only 40.

BigSwamp I swear when I watched it was like almost 40 yards off the ground. I will admit though that it did look a little deceiving on a camera shot with depth. I don't know man. I thought Otto was potrayed as a great guy who is good to others and a great father. I probably would have just cut the tree down. I hope we are not runnin out of trees in Alaska. That would be upsetting.

Nope, no shortage of trees in Alaska...
just a shortage of Jewel's relos who don't wanna grab 15 minutes of fame ridin on Jewel's back.

easy... ;)

BigSwamp Is relos short for relative... Jewel once said man that everybody is tryin' to beat the system. Either your in the game or your out...

"Down to earth people" don't poke their faces on melodramatic reality TV shows about wilderness survival when they live just a short drive from their local McDonalds.

"Down to earth people" live more unassuming and err... down to earth lifestyles.

What are they gonna pay McDonald's with IP squirrel skins and fire wood...

I'd say they are pretty down to Earth...

So they want a little spot light to make ends meet whats the big deal...

Somebody is just jealous that beautiful Eskimo women want to snuggle with Otto now and not with him...;)
