beak The Rugby Times says Matt Corker, the London Welsh second row, is on our radar for next season! Would be a good addition!
March 21st, 2011 04:46 AM
annie Heard a rumour yesterday from a very reputable source - not anyone at the club though I might add - that Duffey will be back next season :)
March 21st, 2011 05:02 AM
beak Hooray! Really hope this one is true!
March 21st, 2011 05:18 AM
annie Me too! You never know 100% though unless it came from sources 'official' but we can hope. Would be great to have a top hooker again. Fingers crossed for an announcement over the next few weeks!
March 21st, 2011 06:02 AM
ftm Top class hooker again ! Are we being a little unfair to Tom Youngs Annie. He might not be Jo but by god when he goes he goes good.
March 21st, 2011 06:53 AM
annie No, not really.
March 21st, 2011 07:16 AM
M2OGGTYFC Well lets put it this way shall we. This rumour has been doing the rounds for a little while now but tigers arent saying anything. I do know who is definitely going one way next season but as for who is going the other, I cant say as I dont know. However from what ive heard duffey isnt figuring in tigers plans next season so I would concur annie, it would seem tigers are likely to release.
March 21st, 2011 09:19 AM
Kirky I also heard that Sione and Tim Streather have signed for Worcester. Don't know how true- but a blow - interesting if we progress in the Playoffs and stand between Worcester and promotion!
March 21st, 2011 09:46 AM
annie Apparently Richard Hill has all but signed 5 Championship players and is waiting to announce until their teams are out of the play-offs. He is definitely looking at Sione - so are a number of other clubs - but he's apparently been playing his cards fairly close to his chest. Heard he's after the front line Bristol front row, Sione and the Welsh winger with the impossible to spell second name!

Personally, I don't think Sione is ready for the Premiership. He shows some great potential but there are areas of his game that aren't hugely strong even by Championship standards at the moment. Very young, very raw, promising talent who needs another couple of seasons of GD nuture I think.
March 21st, 2011 09:59 AM
David Bowden Ahh, the silly season, lets wait and see chaps. Who knows who GD may have in the cross hairs? I bet they are pretty good if his past record is anything to go by.
Now on a more serious note when will Nic be coming back?
March 21st, 2011 11:10 AM
SallyR Nic was in the sports bar before the game yesterday ....
March 21st, 2011 12:38 PM
will Thought Streather was with us on a DR from Wasps???
March 21st, 2011 01:14 PM
bp All speculation at the moment.
Sione has been offered a new contract, but unfortunately the club has to deal with agents now so I fear it will be up to the club with the most money, and that aint us!!!!
March 21st, 2011 03:58 PM
Te Ao Hou Streather has been playing in the Wasps 'A' set up alongside Charlie Davies.

I think it fair to say we will all hear various rumours about most players in the squad in the coming months. With budgets being squeezed at most clubs and the economic situation being 'difficult' I can also see issues about keeping our better Academy and younger squad players.

Other clubs will, and do, actively look at this calibre of player as possible additions to their squad because they are less costly than guys in the mid to late 20's who have agents in tow.
March 22nd, 2011 03:00 AM
losttiger Looks like were all going to be happy you get duffy back and we get youngs
March 22nd, 2011 05:23 AM
David Bowden Why bp, are Toulon after him?
March 22nd, 2011 06:33 PM
John Dainton If Sione goes its interesting that Bristol have announced 14 players being retained which doesn,t include ome of our old boys.

To be fair they state they are still negotiating with a couple of other players
March 23rd, 2011 05:04 AM
David Bowden We should re-sign Monty just for the craic - what a top bloke. Also quality 8.
March 23rd, 2011 05:23 AM
annie bp - the version of events I had heard RE Sione is that we have made him a substantial offer to keep him so that he won't leave on the grounds of money.

I'm guessing Cobbo will be re-signing before too long seeing as he's been used in the promotion literature for the season tickets. Then again, that also (for some unbeknown reason) also has a picture of Ali Williams on it so maybe we're signing him too ;)

John - pretty unusual to make such a big announcement of players all at once! Surprised they didn't drip feed to keep people interested... maybe they've just given up? Can we have Monty back. And Nic Rouse please while we're at it :)
March 23rd, 2011 07:08 AM
John Dainton Annie

Sssh dont people know that Rousy and Ali are our first choice second row for next year they may get jealous. Ali isn,t really injured just saving himself for next year never mind the world cup
March 23rd, 2011 07:52 AM
annie I hear we've got a promotion charge to mount in 2011/12... think Ali would probably go pretty well in the Championship :)
March 25th, 2011 04:36 PM
Te Ao Hou I see Ben Prescott has signed a new two year deal with Saints.

As well as the guys joining the club, it will be interesting to see who of the existing squad signs a new deal as well. Many of the current squad are on one year deals at the moment. I guess we'll here over the coming weeks of contract terminations, extensions, new deals.

What an exciting time for all concerned!

I read Bedford have signed two of their Academy boys, 20 year old Veenendaal has been 1st choice scrum half most of the season and they've just signed Cartwright, a winger. Both lads played along side Nottingham Rugby's Jamie Barnard in the Midlands U20's last season

Glad I don't have to do this contract job - Glenn is welcome to it. A thankless task I'd think.
April 6th, 2011 02:49 AM
beak Juan Pablo Socino has decided to sign for Nottingham according to The Rugby Times and it will be revealed in Fridays paper!

Can he play both fly half and inside centre?
April 6th, 2011 03:08 AM
Justin He plays both fly half and inside centre. He has scored over half of Rotherham's points this season and they are obviously quite annoyed that he is signing for us. It has been suggested on their forum that he will be a dual registered player or loanee from Tigers, however this can't be the case because of his age and/or nationality. He will provide cover for James Arlidge when he is away at the World Cup as well as providing extra cover in the centres. A very welcome signing.
April 6th, 2011 06:41 AM
annie Never mind Friday's paper, it's on the website now :)

Great news - go Glenn!
April 6th, 2011 06:58 AM
David Bowden Can we just fast-forward to pre-season so we can see the new squad in action please? I can't remember being so excited about the next season, well not since about 2003 anyway.
April 6th, 2011 07:35 AM
beak The Roth board has Sione off to Newcastle...
April 6th, 2011 07:40 AM
annie I've heard a similar rumour but with him departing for somewhere a little closer to home (not Tigers). I know we've offered him terms but by the sounds of it there are an awful lot of other people bidding. Newcastle, as we all know, are interested. Alain Tait came down to ML to have a look at him not long after their interest broke in the press... I love the rumour season :)
April 6th, 2011 07:51 AM
beak Annie - Anymore rumours on Mr Duffey?
April 6th, 2011 08:31 AM
geordie Annie-It's still a possibility that Falcons could be in the Championship next season.
