Seems so...just the club to confirm it.

annie Ahhh the wonders of poorly managed social media! Must be a nightmare to try and control information release with this lot!

Good signing for us though, good solid Championship player.

MLS Very good squad player imo.

The George Ford comment was in jest, he's about 5 stone to light atm :P ,but it would be nice to think we'd be trusted with developing players with real promise rather than some which come and dont even seem to add much value at championship level.
July 4th, 2011 06:40 PM
MLS Actually reading up on him he appears to have decent pedigree... could well challenge for a spot, but will have plenty of competition :P

Brian Banter Did someone just say Savage was bigger than Juan!?!?!?!?
July 5th, 2011 03:51 AM
Retired winger Yes Mr Banter I did! Savage is about 6ft 3" and I think he is about 95Kgs and Socino is 5ft 9" and 89Kgs. If Savage looked big he would be a second rower he only looks a skinny runt because he is tall.
And for anyone who would like that in old money 95Kgs is 14.95 stones
In my day I played with lighter forwards.
July 5th, 2011 04:32 AM
MLS I s Hallett more of a 10 or a 15? Will he be cover for Arlidge or a genuine contender with Socino pushing to 12? All looking quite interesting :D
July 5th, 2011 04:45 AM
annie No. 10 is his preferred jersey apparently. Though, I believe he spent much of last season - before he was out with a shoulder injury (mid-Feb) - playing at 15. I'm not sure if he actually played in any of their play-off games? Maybe someone who pays more attention to other people's squads might be able to help on that one?
July 5th, 2011 05:41 AM
David Bowden From a quick Google he was highly thought of by Plymouth fans.
I stand corrected on Silky - he just looks slight. Perhaps I would have been better to say that he does not look the right shape for an inside centre. My World view has them as big hard looking buggers who like to run through walls and eat iron bars. Molenaar for example.
July 5th, 2011 06:54 AM
beak I wonder if it will ever go up on the website!! ;)
July 5th, 2011 08:05 AM
annie It's not been in the public domain for 24hrs yet... give them a chance ;)
July 5th, 2011 08:45 AM
Retired winger Kieran Hallett listed as a Fly Half 1.77 m and 85kgs in old money that is 13 stones 6lbs and 5ft 9". Looking at the records he seems a good player BUT has spent an awful lot of his rugby career injured.
July 5th, 2011 08:57 AM
MLS According to the Plymouth site he's 5'11" and 13st 8lb, also listed as their captain. I've read he has a long kicking game and good all round 10/15 basics... but as you say he seems to have had plenty of injuries, but at 26 he should still have his best years ahead of him.

beak Looks a decent signing! Actually apart from the announcement about home fixtures there has been radio silence from the club! Nothing on Twitter or Facebook! Thought there might have been something on pre season starting!
July 5th, 2011 05:47 PM
MLS I hear Neil Fowkes has become forwards coach and retired from playing. Anyone else heard anything on this??
July 6th, 2011 04:40 AM
annie I think Hallett will provide good back up for when Arlidge is away at the RWC and give us a different option if he's going through one of his 'made of glass' phases. It's nice to think we have some strength in depth in a key position for once!
July 6th, 2011 05:20 AM
MLS From the write up on the site it looks as though he's going to be our number one 10 from the start of next season so I guess JP will be starting at 12. Interesting it states he can also play centre and not full-back. Coming from Kettering he's considerably closer to 'home' now :p
July 6th, 2011 06:26 AM
beak At last an update!!

At this rate though it could be the first game before we know what has happened to Tim and Luke! (I did see that Luke is playing for Jacko's touch team with a few other Nottm players, maybe a good sign, maybe not!!!!)
July 6th, 2011 06:46 AM
annie It'll be the end of the season before we know officially who we're playing on that 27/8 weekend!

Wouldn't get used to it :p Hallett, like Jones, has been given just a 12 month contract, and I have a feeling these moves are only to cover us in WC year... hope I'm wrong though.

I have a sneaking suspicion Mr Usasz will re-sign as well :)
July 6th, 2011 09:16 AM
annie While that's almost undoubtedly the case, it's still nice to see! :)
July 6th, 2011 10:47 AM
Brian Banter Hopefully not, he has simply AWFUL hair.
July 7th, 2011 08:35 AM
MLS I see Leicester have apparently signed Australian openside Julien Salvi. Hopefully this will open the door for Tom Armes to return here as we're looking a little thin on opensides atm...
July 10th, 2011 04:42 AM
bp Interesting article in the rugby paper saying Hallett was going to be dual reg with 'a prerniership club' (I wonder which one) till the PC pulled out and Glenn stepped in to honour his half of the deal.
It also states 'there are a few players still to come from Leicester' which I had heard but not confirmed.

David Bowden I am not sure I understand why we have not had the squad announced. Pre-season has started and everyone else seems to have announced theirs. I hope we are not going to do the DR thing again, it just hurts our morale and messes up the shape of the match day squad. Also I hope that everyone who plays for us trains with us. A dog can't have two masters, as the old saying goes and too many cooks spoil the broth.
July 10th, 2011 05:34 AM
bp I think we will see DR's, and just remember, get any alsation away from its handler and you can handle it. (Police training manual).
July 10th, 2011 06:17 AM
annie I have to say my heart sunk when I read that. For me it completely devalued what looked to be a good solid signing for us. What a shame.
July 10th, 2011 06:35 AM
SimonB I think we would be foolish to rule out DRs completely however it should be there to provide emergency cover and not to form a core of a team. We ave plenty of quality resources at our disposal from the signings made and our starting XV will be all ours this year

The world cup is also a complicating factor for this season as players who might normally be potentially on our radar are staying with clubs at a higher level to cover players being away for up to two months. It may be there is another raft of signings come October
July 10th, 2011 10:37 AM
David Bowden The problem with this DR stuff is that unless you have been told specifically that a player is not dual registered or "trialing" how would you know? Last season we had players who we all thought were ours, but were training with another club. How does that work? Who is the master?
I think that GD has done a fantastic job to produce what he has over the last two seasons with such shifting sands to work from (he was building something really special before then), but and I think it is the big BUT, if we are aiming to produce a promotion squad then DR has no place. It is a great tool to pad a squad which is trying to avoid the drop zone play-off. But as it is only Nottingham that I care about, bringing on young talent to help someone else just isn't what we should be about, IF we are aiming to get promoted.
July 10th, 2011 11:22 AM
bp I don't think any of the new players mentioned so far are DR. From what I can make out there will probably be some DR's from tigers allocated (and I have thought about that terminology) soon, and I do feel there may be some more 'signings' to come soon.

May not be perfect, but if it is good enough for GD, it will do for me.
