Where have you heard that!? Jersey would certainly be a good place to learn a thing or two behind a big pack, but 5th choice really? IMO he's a more than adequate back up at this level, although obviously he has much to learn/improve on bringing in 4 more scrum halves is a bit extreme. I'm sure most clubs only have 3 tops!

And hearing those comments from the Nuneaton fan(s) is very promising indeed, hopefully they'll be showing what they can do at ML in the not to distant future...

You are joking, arent you???
June 2nd, 2011 05:05 PM
MLS If you were joking, which I guess you were now... You got me :P

Have just seen Leeds are rumoured to be signing a 6/8 from Tigers... Hot favourite is it being Dan Hemmingway, with the outsider being Ben Pienaar.
June 2nd, 2011 05:17 PM
M2OGGTYFC It must be a joke - surely!
Dont think its Pienaar, is it not Everard? Wouldnt be surprised if its Hemo though - think hes out of contract at the minute.
June 2nd, 2011 05:44 PM
MLS They reckon its a 6/8 I thought Everard was a 7. I also think Everard still has a shot at breaking in there, whereas Hemmingway, now 22(?), doesnt seem to be making any major head way.
June 2nd, 2011 05:50 PM
M2OGGTYFC Rumours flying on Tigers forum that Everard and Hurrell already signed for Leeds. I would have thought they would keep Hemingway in case Waldrom goes to the RWC - he's in the training squad.. although like I said Hemingway is out of contract. he was about at Tigers for quite a lot of the end of last season so I assumed Tigers had recalled him.
June 2nd, 2011 05:59 PM
MLS Leeds signing Everard would be a bit of a weird one. He's an excellent player and would undoubtedly be very good in the Championship, but they already have Jacob Rowan (who of course played for us for a while) who is also an England u-20 openside...
June 2nd, 2011 06:14 PM
M2OGGTYFC No idea then! That is a bit of a strange one. Its a rumour far as I know but given how slow Tigers are at announcing things I have no idea whether there is any truth in it!

Justin I've also heard the rumour that it's Everard who has signed for Leeds along with Hurrell and I agree, very strange signings. Not many people rate Hurrell, although a few seasons ago he seemed to be the only decent player in a Coventry shirt.

I reckon Glen must have signed another scrum half and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he were non EQP, probably South African, or Australian or maybe even from New Zealand. Obviously good news if he has as the calibre of player should be pretty decent, yet also slightly odd as we could have a situation where one Australian scrum half is taking the place of another Australian scrum half (Australian/American)

I said over a year ago that Ben Pienaar would be a brilliant signing for Nottingham and if you do a little bit of Internet searching, he isn't classed as being "assigned" to any club, whilst all the other Leicester players are. Leicester seem to place player after player in front of him even though he's a decent player himself.

I'd also like to see a little bit more beef in the backline. We have reasonably quick players, but what we are missing is a brick s**t house that can shift. i think that type of player would complete, what potentially, is a good set of backs.

MLS Didn't we actually sign Ben Pienaar before Tigers decided they wanted him back?

And I agree, the place hasn't been the same since Tim Molenaar left...

David Bowden The announcements so far only add up to half a team. We are light in the front row, half backs, centres, back three. We need a 7 and back up jumpers. I know it is only June, but if we want to challenge we need a squad of 32 Nottingham club players (excluding any DR-not bothered-called back at any time-boys). That would give us a decent starting 22 and enough strength in depth for squad rotation and injury cover. Heaven forbid that we end up with 45 playing for us including Uni boys, loanees and club friends. Success comes from continuity and team spirit. The initial signing announcements were brilliant, can we have more of the same high quality please?

beak Strange that nothing has gone up on the website this week! Would be good to hear something! I wouldn't mind a dual regger just not as many as the last 2 seasons! Matt Smith was pretty awesome for us when he played the whole season. However, would be good to hear of some more true Nottingham players announced!
June 3rd, 2011 05:18 AM
Justin Joe Cobden to Nottingham?? Allegedly!
June 3rd, 2011 05:30 AM
Alison B Not sure there is anyone doing the website since Geoff has left.
June 3rd, 2011 05:39 AM
David Bowden Matt was signed to us that season, not dual registered. Joe Cobden looks like a really good player, great signing if rumour correct. I am not sure that the main club information tool should be off-line just because one person leaves!
June 3rd, 2011 05:44 AM
Justin Somebody should have said, I've had this week off. I could quite happily update the website with the plethora of signings we've no doubt got :D
June 3rd, 2011 05:52 AM
beak Agree, the website needs maintaining even if short staffed!
June 3rd, 2011 06:02 AM
annie Frankly, I know how to do it and it would take approximately 2minutes of my day!

Plus, I'd get to taunt you all by knowing first ;)
June 3rd, 2011 06:18 AM
David Bowden It would be great to have brothers playing in the team - I can see the announcer getting a bit tied up working out which Cobden has scored, also it will make the Come On Cobbo shout more useful.
June 3rd, 2011 06:23 AM
annie It'll help you though - one less name to remember!

bleedsgreenanwhite Odd post on the homepage.
Confirms all we already know but answers to questions about the rest of the squad.
Particularly interesting that there is no mention of a hooker or a scrumhalf.
Also sounds like Eggleshaw over Sherriff. Shame if true.
Tantalising last line again about more signings to come.....

Where does this rumour about Joe Cobden come from?

June 3rd, 2011 07:15 AM
David Bowden Was there actually anything new or was that just a summary of players already announced? I agree, most odd. We clamour for some news and it looks like there isn't any.
June 3rd, 2011 07:16 AM
David Bowden If in doubt Annie just shout "come on youg Dave" there is bound to be one somewhere in the pack.
June 3rd, 2011 07:17 AM
David Bowden Actually there is something new in there - a statement that we are looking to win the B and I Cup. Hooray.

I saw it on the rolling maul forum.
Would be a good one as he can cover both Fly-half and centre.
June 3rd, 2011 08:19 AM
bleedsgreenanwhite Yes I saw that. But I thought it seemed a bit random. That guy has never posted before and Tigers haven't really said anything yet. I think we should wait and see.

Another odd thing about that club article was that in listing our new players there was no mention of Rupert Cooper. Neither was there a mention of Jonny Baird re-signing. Why list the rest and not these two?
June 3rd, 2011 08:31 AM
MLS Dont think Barnham was mentioned either...
Most teams are supposedly strating pre-season in 2 weeks! Unfortunately I dont think we're going to hear announcements on 20 players or so in that time...
June 3rd, 2011 08:38 AM
annie That's just an old article pushed back up to the top of the website. No-one has thought to change it to include the signings announced since I don't think.
June 3rd, 2011 08:44 AM
MLS Ah well, at least they're trying to do something... kind of :P
June 3rd, 2011 09:00 AM
David Bowden I think it must be an all new article as it includes Craig, who was only confirmed on the 25th May. Have we lost some of the people already announced, like we lost "The Hero" I wonder? Now I am more confused than ever.
Still, good news that we are aiming to win the Cup.
