Chris Russell (Fife AC) took his seventh Summer Mid-Week Series title in the last eight years winning the fifth and final race of the season at Balmullo. Russell pulled ahead in the Balmullo Trail Race as the route climbed towards the summit of Lucklaw Hill chased by Dave Burgess (Anster Haddies). Russell teased out a twenty-one seconds advantage over the return journey to the finish at Balmullo Farm covering the 4.8 miles in 29 minutes 58 seconds with Burgess clocking 30.19. Brian Cruickshank (Fife AC) followed an isolated third, first veteran, in 31.24. Helen Sharpe added the women’s series title to her recent Tour of Fife crown placing 14th overall, first female in 34 minutes 14 seconds. Fife AC colleagues Jennifer Macmaster 20th and Morgan Geddes 30th followed second and third females respectively.
