Topie: Beveridge Park 5km RESULTS 22nd August

August 22nd, 2008 04:00 PM Graham Bennison Under 20 athlete Kevin Murray (Dundee Hawkhill) led from start to finish to win the final Beveridge Park, Kirkcaldy, 5km race of the summer season. Over the rain soaked park road circuit Murray opened up a thirty second advantage ahead of Matthew MacPherson (Fife AC) over the first of the two laps going on to increase his advantage at the finish by forty-seven seconds timed at 16 minutes 06 seconds. MacPherson was rapidly closed down approaching the finish by Pitreavie veteran Jeff Farquhar taking the runner-up position courtesy of a dip for the line as both runners shared a finishing time of 16 minutes 53 seconds. Unattached veteran Margaret Murray placed 14th overall, a clear women’s winner clocking 20 minutes 39 seconds followed by Dorothy McCracken (Fife AC) in 16th.
