Russell was ten metres ahead at the Black Rock turning point extending his advantage to fifteen seconds over the return journey to complete the 2.8 miles in 16 minutes 09 seconds with Roarty timed at 16.24.
Brian Cruickshank completed the Fife first three line-up following in 3rd, first veteran another seven seconds adrift.

Twiggy Well I 'tried' to get away on the way out 3 times but the headwinds got the better of me on all occasions and it was infact Brian who towed us all up to the rock. Brian, Paul and me all headed back downwind side by side until I pushed on with 1 mile to go. Paul gave chase but I'd thankfully pulled out a wee gap by the prom and didnt have to contest a sprint finish with him.

Thanks to Frank, Margaret, Gary, Graham, the marshals and timekeepers and ofcourse the Coastguard for putting on the very marvellous race.

Twiggy Any post race comments on the women's race?

It looked pretty damned close judging by the results.

Twiggy Could everybody who entered the 'Blacker than Black Rock', and are hoping to enter some more of the series, please keep their numbers and use them for the rest of the events. Ta.

twiglet princess of darkness Special request - would be great if there was a chance of a return to the lomond hills for a nightmare race in this series, or even having one of them over the normans law route or similar - (Of course the race route won't be marked - which would be very amusing!)

Go on.... you know you want too....

Twiggy My goodness I didnt realise I was having 'relations' within the throng. Ahem anyway moving on - it may be of interest to you Princess that the next one will actually be a hill race - of sorts.

More details to follow.
