EUROPEAN HILL CHAMPIONSHIPS TRIAL RACE, PEEBLES
Fife AC’s Andrew Liston excelled to place 6th at the GB Trial for the European Hill Championships putting him in the frame for selection. Liston clocked 49 minutes 04 seconds over the 11.7km (674m ascent) course held at Glentress, Peebles. Tim Davies (Mercia) was first home in 44 minutes 43 seconds only one second clear of UK junior hill champion lain Donnan (Lothian) who is not seeking selection for the European Championships.
Definitely selected is Andrew Evans, St.Andrews, who was the first under 14 boy home in the associated Scottish Trial for the Black Forest Teenager Games. Andrew was timed at 14 minutes 21 seconds over the junior 2.6km (270m ascent) course chased by Chris Abram (Arran) - 14.53. Jennifer Kibble, Balmullo. placed 4th in the under 16 girls trial clocking 18 minutes 25 seconds.

FIFE SECONDARY SCHOOLS TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS, PITREAVIE
Fife AC athletes took both male and female outstanding athlete awards at the Fife Secondary Schools Track & Field Championships at Pitreavie. Andrew Kinnear, Gauldry, broke the 20 year old high jump record by 3cm with a 1.90m clearance. Andrew also won the 200m (24.1). Nony Mordi, Cupar. was also in championship record form with her 11.09m triple jump, a 47cm improvement on the 1993 previous best of 10.62m. Nony also won the 100m hurdles and the long jump. Rhorry Gauld. took double gold in the field events with 38.87m in the javelin and 27.00m in the discus. Garry Brown placed 3rd in the long jump with 5.15m.

CENTRAL & SOUTH OF SCOTLAND LEAGUE, WISHAW
Andrew repeated his 1.90m high jump, winning the Senior event at the Central & South of Scotland League at Wishaw. Chris Baily won the senior 200m (22.6) as well as the javelin (43.70m) backed up by Mike Wyse who won the 200 B (23.7) and 3rd in the long jump (5.63m). Garry Brown was a prolific points scorer in the under 17’s section with a personal best triple jump of 11.04m for 2nd place, 2nd in the 200 B (25.3 and 2nd in the javelin B (25.30m). Thomas Salter, St.Andrews excelled in the under 17 javelin to win with a throw of 36.55m. Brother Phillip posted -a personal best over 1500m (4738.9) to place 3rd.
Connor Hill, St.Andrews, continued his scorching form in the under 15 boys section winning the 200m in a personal best of 25.2 seconds. Another p.b. came over the 80m hurdles (13.1) as well as 3rd place in the discus (20.05m).
Nony Mordi posted a personal best of 15.7 seconds to win the Senior 100m hurdles as well as winning the 200m (27.5). Michell Thadeus won the senior discus with a throw of 25.39m. Aillie Scobie, Kirkcaldy, contested the under 15 girls high jump reaching a winning 1.35m while Phillipa Turnbull, Cupar, placed 2nd in the 75m hurdles (13.1). Kiri Stone, Cupar, won the under 13 girls 800m in a fast 2 minutes 39.8 seconds with Fiona Bracegirdle, Gauldry, the B winner (2:46.1).
Meya Stone was in sparkling form in the under 11 girls 800m winning in a personal best of 2 minutes 50.1 seconds. Rebecca Robb won the under 11’s 800m B in a personal best of 3 minutes 03.8 seconds as well as placing 3rd in the 80m sprint (12.6) and 1st in the long jump B (3.12m). Katy Tan, Falkland, took 3rd in the under 11’s long jump with a personal best of 3.43m.
Good results all-round saw the club place 2nd equal with Irvine AC behind Dunfermline & West Fife. This was the club’s strongest showing in ‘all age group’ track and field for some time.

EZ CARNEGIE 1 MILE RACE, DUNFERMLINE
At Dunfermline’s Pittencrieff Park one mile race Glenrothes veteran Jim Hannigan placed 6th in 5 minutes 06 seconds chased by Dave Anderson 7th (5:08)

FULL RESULTS - Hill of Tarvit Race
Andrew Liston led a procession of Fife runners at the Hill of Tarvit Race, Ceres clocking 32 minutes 29 seconds with Chris Russell 2nd (32.47) - the club placed 14 runners in the top twenty as 104 finished.
East Fife ‘striker’ James Herkes, Baldinnie, ran well to place 8th overall displaying his all-round fitness.
