TRACK & FIELD RESULTS
Fife AC junior Nony Mordi was in top form at the Scottish Schools Track & Field Championships at Grangemouth equalling the over 17 girls triple jump championship best performance. Nony’s 11.22 metres clinched the gold medal ahead of Catherine Smy’s (Banchory) 10.61m. Nony gained a complete set of medals by taking silver in the 100m hurdles (15.48) and bronze in the long jump (4.62m).
Andrew Kinnear took silver in the Group B high jump (1.85m) and the long jump (6.01m). Connor Hill took double bronze in Group C with 3rd in the 400m clocking 55.7 seconds and 3rd in the 100m - 12.21 seconds. Connor also placed 9th in the long jump with 4.72 metres.
Jennifer Kibble ran her best ever 1500m race placing 4th in the Group C girls final timed at 5 minutes 04.38 seconds.
Other results include:- Girls Group B. Michell Thaddeus - discus 4th - 24.60m and shot putt 6th - 8.34m. Girls Group D. Emma Todd - 1500m final 10th - 5:36.28. Girls Group D 800m. Heat 3. Jenny Tan 8th - 2:46.87 Heat 4. Kiri Stone 3rd 2:40.65. Fiona Bracegirdle 4th - 2:41.86.
Boys Group B. Keith Simpson. 200m 5th heat – 24. 53. Philip Salter. 1500m 7th - 4:43.77.
Fife Schools Pentathlon, Pitreavie
The Fife Schools Pentathlon Championships was won by Glenrothes member Garry Brown (Glenwood High) who took the senior title with 2192 points. Garry’s individual marks were: 100m hurdles (17.6), shot putt (9.38m), long jump (5.33m), 200m (24.7) and 800m (2:35.1). M.Burns (St.Columbas) placed second – 2179 points with R.Swain (Auchmuty) in third - 2152 points.
YETHOLM FESTIVAL HILL RACE
Both Tom and Jocelyn Scott got amongst the prizes at the Yetholm Festival Hill Race, an 8 mile (2500ft) event which straggles the English/Scottish border. Tom placed 5th overall, first over 50 veteran ahead of Carnethy over 50 rival John Blair-Fish in 7th. Tom clocked 1 hour 22 minutes 14 seconds, winner Damian Rodwell (Westertands) was timed at 1 hour 12 minutes. Jocelyn finished second female, first veteran timed at 1 hour 41 minutes.
SRI CHINMOY RACE
At Edinburgh’s Meadows club senior Louise Provan pIaced 4th woman over the two mile Sri Chinmoy course clocking 12 minutes 42 seconds.
FIFE AC BEVERIDGE PARK 5K SERIES
Scott Taylor provided a home win at the Beveridge Park, Kirkcaldy 5km series timed at 16 minutes 37 seconds ahead of Carnegie veteran Ian Stewart (16.50). Dundee-based member Neil Young came home in 3rd (18.12). Kirkcaldy member Mark Harley ran well to place 7th, first junior clocking 19 minutes 01 second. Junior athlete Emma Todd, Cupar, was only eleven seconds away from finishing first female overall placing a fine 16th in a personal best of 21 minutes 03 seconds. VaI Herkes, Baldinnie, was the first women’s jogging group member home in a very creditable 26 minutes 57 seconds.
