CERES 8 ROAD RACE
There was a massive turn-out of Fife AC runners at the 17th Ceres 8 mile road race where 200 participated. GB internationalist Phil Mowbray took the title for the second time in 41 minutes 51 seconds followed by Mike Carroll (Dundee Hawkhill) - 42.12 and Ruairidh Campbell (Arbroath Footers) - 42.14. Ian Overton led home a procession of Fife runners in 5th (44.35) followed by Chris Russell 6th (44.53), Dusty Spates 7th (45.27), Adrian Davis 8th (46.29) and Dave Anderson 9th (46.35). Elliott Simpson, Kirkcaldy, contested by far his longest race to date placing a superb 24th overall (50.12) to take the first junior award. Louise Provan placed 38th overall to win the women’s prize (53.11) following a hectic journey from Edinburgh making the start line with just seconds to spare. Jennifer Kibble, Balmullo, finished 47th, third female, first junior (54.46).

RELAY RACE
Fourteen teams contested the 4 x 2 mile relay over the Ceres course with the Fife AC junior women retaining the relay quaich in 59th place overall fourteen minutes ahead of the nearest opposition clocking 56 minutes 29 seconds. The team members were Jennifer Kibble, Maya Stone, Natasha McIntosh and Jenny Tan.
There was an incredible turn-out from the womens jogging group (Jocelyn’s Joggers) with many of the individual first stage runners going on to complete the full 8 mile distance or carrying on from the second and third stages to reach Ceres green. The resulting rash of runners with the same team number passing through the finish in an obviously cunning plan to sabotage the results failed miserably – we think!
