Memories.Thoughts.Flashbacks

The mind is a beautiful and amazing thing and the ability to store long term and short term memory is one of the miracles of life.

Every now and then, when you're just sitting around, doing absolutely nothing but to retreat into your head and think back on your life. Whether it be a good memory of a time you once enjoyed, something you regret like hurting someone or taking home the ugly girl at a party and sometimes you just have to think of how you got somewhere and that's exactly what I am doing right now.

I lay here in bed. The lights are off but I have left my curtains open so the beautiful moonlight shines into my bedroom as well as the annoying un-natural lights of the city of Los Angeles. I just lay here with the blanket up to my chest, lying on my back with my hands behind my head, just looking up to the ceiling. I had many thoughts rushing through my brain but the main thing I am thinking of just days before my match at Snow Job is how I got here. It's like one of those movies that start out with the main character doing something and then having a flashback on how they got into that situation for the remainder of the film. So let's take a journey into my brain and watch my memories on how I got to wrestle for the X-Treme Wrestling Federation.

We start off in Brisbane, Australia with a young R.J. Palmer, using the ring name Rick Palmer and wrestling in a small local wrestling company. Living by myself, away from home and having to fend for myself, I'm working at the Goodlife gym as a gym instructor. It was quite good money, but I just wasn't feeling it anymore and any idiot who knows how to lift a weight and knows even the slightest in human anatomy, knows how to train someone. But it takes someone with a lot of skill to become a World Champion, the amount of skill that I posses. So I began training more in hopes to be in higher card matches, which is exactly what happened. The more time I took off work, meant the more time I can train which got me in better and better matches. I remember I was in the main event of a small homegrown show with maybe twenty, twenty-five people in attendance. The match was pretty much nothing short of a classic, it will be going down as one of the greatest matches in history in that promotion. After the show, I went to the lobby area to hang with some fans when this American guy came up to me and to cut a long story short, he told me he wanted to me relocate to the States and wrestle for this other company and gave me a business card. This was my dream coming true right before my eyes so obviously I had to accept the offer and before you know it, I was on a plane to the United States of America to wrestle professionally.

We then jump to New York City where I was previously living and wrestling for a different organization. I was one half of the Tag Team Champions with a fellow Aussie wrestler. But before anyone could beat us for the championship gold, the company went out of business which meant we were no longer champions, but it mostly meant that we were our of a job. So us two pretty much went our separate ways and began to wrestle in different independent promotions, trying to make ends meet so that we could stay in America and hopefully be picked up by another big company and continue our dreams, but one of us had more success than the other. While I was wrestling for this one promotion, I got an email from a former GM of the previous company I was just in saying that he knows of another company that are looking for people to sign up and wrestle for them. Of course I was skeptical at first. I mean, I would have loved to just go and wrestle but I knew nothing of this company, their other superstars or what they stood for and didn't just want to go in blind to potentially be screwed over sometime down the line, so I did the thing any rational person would do and that was do my research on this company. Turns out they were called the XWF, which stood for X-Treme Wrestling Federation and has been around for ten years prior to me hearing about them. A company that has lasted this long, they must be legit. So the next day I contacted them, telling them who I was and that this guy I use to work for and they somehow know said I should check them out. We chatted on the phone for a while before they said they were interested in seeing what I had to offer and before you know it, they had sent a talent scout to one of the local shows in New York that I was booked to compete in. Well to say the least, they must have been impressed since after the show, they approached me and said they wanted to sign me right away and gave me their number and main headquarters address. It took me two days, but I eventually rang up and booked a meeting with management. The very next day I set out to meet with a representative of XWF, now I didn't get to meet the owner who was known as James Raven that day but I did get to meet someone else who put me through an interview and by the end of it had handed me a contract to look over and I just skimmed through it to make sure there wasn't any sort of dodgy deal in there before I signed it. Now mind you, this was in early December and I hadn't been in a decent company for months, so I was quite eager to just jump straight in but before I could I had to have a medical exam to make sure everything was tip-top. I don't have anything major wrong me, other then I was asthmatic as a child but that went away as I got older but still make sure I have an inhaler just in case.

It only took about a week after I had officially been cleared to compete that I was put in a match. I won that match with flying colours and put myself on the map as one of the rising star of XWF and was put in a tag team match with three other newbies to decide the next number one contenders to the Hart Title. Okay, although I won the match for me and my partner, the problem is that even how you feel about an injury and what you think you are capable of, you are not allowed to compete if the company doctor says you are not fit to. So instead of competing for the title at X-Mas X-Treme like my partner, I just had to sit on the sidelines and watch as he failed at what I could have succeeded at. So for over a month I was not seen inside an XWF ring until recently when I was cleared to return to the ring but now everything has changed. The former Hart Champion ditched the championship and even though I was still the rightful contender, two others had also been named as contenders for the title with a third person being voted in. Fair? No. But this is the XWF and fair doesn't mean a damn thing around here and I'll just have to overcome the odds by beating three of the best this company has to offer to become the new Hart Champion.

So in just a few days it is yours truly, R.J. Palmer going against former X-Treme Champion, Peter Gilmour and two other undefeated wrestlers, Diego Valez and Rhiannon Ramsey. This match will be without a doubt the highest rating non-main event match of the evening and certainly it will be the closest match. So who will win? Who knows, but one this is known, and that is these four will give it all to try become the new champ.

I then shut my eyes and try to get some sleep before my early flight to Phoenix in the morning...

Final Interview
Time & Date: 12:34pm - January 29th 2010

With Snow Job now just two days away, this is my last time to get some promo time to hype my match and try to slam my opponents. The previous day I had called up the XWF and asked them to send a camera man to meet me at the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix. The camera man is standing outside the arena waiting for me. He checks out his watch and looks around to see if I had arrived yet. I said I would be there around 12:30 and am only running a few minutes late, why is he impatient? A few more minutes go by and he starts to walk away from the arena when I pull up in a taxi. I get out and then reach back into the vehicle and pull out my travel bag, the kind with a handle and wheels, it has all my wrestling gear in it. I walk towards the man, pulling along my bag behind me.

Going somewhere?

I thought you weren't going to show. What's with the bag?

Airlines. Can't trust them to get you anywhere on time. Next time I think I'll drive, may take a bit longer but it beats the stress of the airport. Well it contains all my ring gear and I don't know how long I'm going to be here, so instead of continuing paying for the cab I'll just get another one later. But whatever... Let's just do this promo.

I place my bag next to the camera man so it won't be in the shot. He raises the camera up to his face and focuses it on me. The shot if of myself standing with the giant arena in the background. I looks back at it, then back at the camera.

Magnificent, isn't it? Well, not really. But in just two days the first XWF pay-per-view of 2010 will be held right here and some of the big matches include Steve Jason versus owner James Raven, World Title match with Kieran King facing Famine of the Vile, in the main event it is Big Shank putting his Universal Title against Dante Anglais, but there is another match. You may call this a low-card match but I call it a 'Stars of Tomorrow' match with four of the best young newcomers all competing against each other for the Hart Title. Those people include me, Pete Gilmour, Rhi Ramsey and Diego Valez. Now we all have been taking it in turns of running our mouths and verbally bashing each other but that means squat, we will all just have to see what happens this Sunday in our match. But before then, I thought I would take one more shot at my opponents because I have a voice and it needs to be heard. So Diego, Rhiannon, Peter, get ready because this message is for you and I want you all to pay close attention to what I have to say.

Before I speak I run my right hand through my hair and stop for a moment to think of what I am going say.

Okay, Diego, I know I just said we have all taken in turns at speaking what's on our minds but I still have yet to hear anything from you. If you're scared and don't want to compete, then why don't you just say so? We won't think anything less of you. If you do not want to wrestle against someone of my caliber, some horror movie reject and a female then just speak up instead of hiding away somewhere. Or maybe you've had to much tequila and have passed out in your room like some kind of rock star, I'm expecting to see your face on the news saying that some B-Grade celebrity has been found dead on the toilet after overdosing on booze and pills. Or better yet, perhaps the American government found out you crossed the border illegally and shipped you right back to that hole of a country known as Mexico. If you want to stay in this country, you have to do it legally and tell them that you're staying here like I had to.

I then began to laugh from what just popped into my head.

Oh man, Lord of Darkness? Are you serious, Gilmour? The Lord of Darkness! That is just gold, right there. I can't believe you can call yourself that and keep a straight face, because I know if I was being that much of a douche I couldn't help but laugh at myself. But I guess you like being the joke of XWF. I think the fans take Dan Fierce and Legion more serious than you. Oh and before you cut a promo, try doing your research on your opponents you moron! First of all you said I lost to Legion. I don't know what match you were matching but I won that match, you dip shit. But not only did you say that, you also went on to say that I'm undefeated. Okay, so first you say I lost to Legion and then you say I'm undefeated? Try getting your story right before speaking. Actually, why don't you just stop talking all together, you'll be doing the entire World a huuuge favour. And I'm not in this business to impress anyone, especially you, the only person I'm in this for is myself and that's what makes me a great competitor. And do you think you actually scare me?

I try to do my best Gilmour impersonation.

Look at me, I'm the great Lord of Darkness, I am a hungry animal and if you get in my way I'll destroy you and make you bleed. Blah, blah, blah, I'm a Ozzy Osbourne groupie and would like to some day become his bitch and spend the remainder of my life sucking his old, dried up balls.

Then I go back to just being me and get all serious to end the part of the promo about the Lord of Gayness.

Seriously dude, if it has taken you a year to get a shot at the Hart Title then you simply don't deserve the title. Just look at your three opponents. We haven't been here for that long and yet we have a shot at the title. You know why? Because we are a million times better than you and that's just something you'll have to live with when you don't leave with the championship belt.

I then again pause for a moment before moving onto my final opponent. The one who went on camera just to claim that she isn't a slut. But if everyone says it, then it must be true, right?

Now the last person I have to mention is this baby making, house cleaning, laundry doing, Rhiannon Ramsey.

I do the old, fake cough.

*cough* Slut *cough*

I just smile.

I'm just yankin' your chain. Of course you're not a slut, you just like to get ahead by giving people head. Just like you said, you give a mean blow job and I still honestly think that's how you got into this match, whether you still chose to deny it. And could do you me a little favor? Could you please breathe through your nose? I walk past you the other day and you had your mouth wide open and I could swear I smelt James Raven Jr. on your breath. Was pretty disgusting, had to go into the locker room and take a whiff of Spice Ones' excrements to get over that horrid stench that came out of your mouth. I ask you one thing, though. How do you know that blonde hottie was a slut? Like she said, she just likes to have fun. You wouldn't call someone who likes the occasional beer to have some fun an alcoholic would you? I thought not. But real sluts are people who have sex addictions such as people like Tiger Woods, David Duchovny and Paris Hilton. Hey! I know, would you like to be the Paris Hilton of XWF? Would you like that? What am I talking about? Of course you would. James Raven might be engaged but you can't honestly stand there and say that men are happy with just one girl for the rest of there life. I just gave you two prime examples. Tiger and David. They're married and still went around banging anything that had a hole and moved. Mia, if I were you, I would pay more attention to my fiance and start smelling his clothes when he comes home and compare them to the cheap, street walker perfume that Rhiannon wears.

I take in a deep breath after the long rant I just spewed out. It took the breath out of me, but it all had to be said leading into our match. Some say I might have been a bit harsh on the three but everything I said was the truth and like the old saying goes. The truth hurts.

That's all for today, folks. So until next time, peace out.

It then fades to black and I walk over to the camera man and grab the handle of my bag, then pull out my mobile phone and dial for another taxi.

Go put that on the dot com as soon as you can, okay champ?
